Contagious Magazine / Ed White
Contagious Communications today announced the appointment of Ed White as editor of Contagious Magazine
Effective immediately, White will be responsible for editing the flagship magazine, its accompanying app and weekly newsletter. He will be supported by managing editor, Emily Hare.
Ed joined Contagious in January 2011 as a senior writer, creating content for both the magazine and the online intelligence resource, Contagious Feed. Last year he became a consultant at Contagious Insider, the company's insights and innovation consultancy whose clients include Diageo, Mondelez, Nike, Red Bull, Topshop, Ubisoft and several major advertising agency networks.
Ed will report to Contagious Communications' editorial director and co-founder, Paul Kemp-Robertson who has relinquished his day-to-day editorship of the magazine in order to focus on the strategic development of the company, particularly Contagious Insider and the annual Most Contagious event, taking place simultaneously this year in London and New York on 11th December.
Prior to joining Contagious, Ed White spent time at the Future Laboratory, FT, Shots and also served as associate editor of Boards magazine. 'Ed's new role is testament to his newsroom experience, his formidable journalistic skills and his talents as a thinker and an agitator,' comments Paul Kemp-Robertson. 'We want to put Insider's strategic thinking and its expert focus on innovation at the heart of everything Contagious does - and Ed's appointment is evidence of that. I look forward to working with him to make Contagious Magazine an indispensible resource that sets a new agenda for marketers and their agencies.'
Says Ed: 'I remember reading the very first issue of Contagious when I was a writer at Shots with a mix of fascination and envy. I knew immediately that I needed to work there one day. So it'd be an understatement to say I'm excited to be taking on the editor's job.
'What struck me then stands true today. Contagious is an unparalleled perspective on the technological and social forces changing marketing, and the future of the industry, staffed by an extremely talented team of writers and consultants.
'Their unique mix of journalistic inquiry and client-facing problem solving will be at the heart of the exciting evolution of Contagious. We're moving from a news-led publication to a journal of marketing thought-leadership aimed at helping brands and agencies understand the rapidly changing world, and capitalise on it.'
Simon Wylie, the chief executive at Contagious comments: 'Ed's appointment coincides with the company's strategic shift from a source of news and creative inspiration to a consultancy that helps to foster innovation, engineer tangible change and decode the immediate future for brands.'
In other Contagious news, Chloe Markowicz has been promoted to Deputy Editor at Contagious Feed, the company's creative intelligence and strategic stimulus tool.
Contagious North America is pleased to announce the appointment of Erin Mavian as Business Development Manager. Previously a Client Services Manager at Stylus, she has also worked at CAA's Intelligence Group, NBC Learn, Stylesight and Styleauteur. Erin will be based at the Contagious office in Hudson Street, New York and will report to Business Development Director, Noelle Weaver.
