Cannes Lions / Cyber Winners

The jury today awarded three Grand Prix in the Cyber category at Cannes Lions.

The top award was handed out to Contagious favourites Åland Index (RBK Communication, Stockholm), Meet Graham (Clemenger BBDO, Melbourne) and Did You Mean MailChimp? (Droga5, New York).

Speaking about the Cyber category in general, jury President and global chief creative officer at Wieden+Kennedy, Colleen DeCourcy observed that what had once started as small and experimental had now become all-encompassing - something that brought with it its own set of problems.

'This category needs to hit very hard if we want to keep up with where the eyeballs are,' warned DeCourcy, while also acknowledging that 'If you work hard at this, this is the category that will reward you'.

The win was the fourth award for Meet Graham, after already picking up gold in PR and Direct, and silver in Creative Data. DeCourcy described it 'Not so much social, as a social object'.


While explaining the rationale for awarding MailChimp's Grand Prix, DeCourcy explained that the jury had looked at what a 'massive campaign' means in a world where everything is digital, TV is going away and how brands and agencies can rise to the challenge of reaching people on the medium that they're on.
