Cannes Lions: Grand Prix for Good winners 2023

Fondation Anne de Gaulle lands a Grand Prix for renaming Charles de Gaulle airport in honour of his daughter

Havas Paris and Fondation Anne de Gaulle have won this year’s Grand Prix for Good, the top award that can be won by charitable causes at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

For the International Day of Disabled Persons on December 3, 2022, Europe’s largest airport, Paris – Charles de Gaulle, was renamed Paris – Anne de Gaulle after the celebrated French general’s daughter, who had Down syndrome.

As well as changing the iconic signage on the airport terminal, the new name was used across road signs, internal screens, luggage trolleys and tickets. In-flight announcements were also adapted to welcome travellers to Paris – Anne de Gaulle airport.

As part of the Anne de Gaulle campaign, which lasted a week, residents of the Fondation Anne de Gaulle were invited to visit the airport and spend time with staff on the job, sharing best practices on how to better accommodate people with disabilities.

The Grand Prix for Good is awarded by The Dan Wieden Titanium Lions jury, whose president was David Droga, CEO and creative chairman of Accenture Song, Global. He said that that while their Titanium Grand Prix winner was ‘the height of technology and law,’ the GP for Good ‘showed the power of a really simple, good idea.’ Droga went on to add that the industry should be able to straddle both extremes: ‘We should be able to play in the classic trenches and do a spectacular job and also be the forward scouts when it comes to technology.’
