1/ The longest-running TV campaign in British history is PG Tips’ Chimp campaign which ran for 46 years between 1956 and 2002 and featured real chimpanzees.

2/ Steve Ells, founder of Chipotle Mexican Grill, only opened his flagship Denver restaurant in 1993 (with a $85,000 loan from his dad) to help fund his dream of running a fine-dining establishment. But after five years and a $360m investment from McDonald’s, there was no looking back. By 2005, Chipotle had 500 restaurants across the USA.

3/ China’s share of the global beauty market is predicted to increase by 66% over the next five years (an increase of $38bn), accounting for nearly half of the industry’s global growth.

5/ A generation of young Brits raised on coffee and herbal teas has caused the black tea market to plummet from around 34 tea bags per household per week in 1974 to 12 bags in 2014.

7/ On average, half of the people who see an advertisement fail to correctly identify the brand, according to the The Measure Your Distinctive Assets report from The Ehrenberg-Bass Institute for Marketing Science.

8/ New York startup Aether makes carbon-negative, lab-grown diamonds: each one-carat gem removes 20 tons of carbon from the atmosphere.

9/ People are more likely to want to buy products with a feminine sounding name (ie, those with more syllables, front vowels and stress on the second or latter syllable), according to a study published in the Journal of Marketing
